Would you say you’ve always been ahead of the curve with your bikes? Recently a big addition has been signature models for Hoang Tran, Lahsaan Kobza, and Simone Barraco. We also started with Dirt and Street specific models with the differences being pegs, gyros, tires, and frame geometry. Pretty funny to think the color red would be a defining moment haha. The first major change for us would be the addition of color to the 2009 line when we first added color. What have been the major changes that the bikes have gone through over the years. Yes, that was one of the first things Ronnie and I knew we wanted to make. When Subrosa was established in 2006, did you two have plans for a line of completes? We started Subrosa in 2006, but debuted our complete bikes in 2007. We just finished up on our 2017 complete bike range, which will be our 9th year of complete bikes. We have been dropping “sneak peeks” on our site and Facebook all the time. How long has Subrosa had a line of complete bikes? The team is and the brand has gone through some changes recently and they are all good! The team is fully rejuvenated and motivated beyond belief! They are killing it right now! We also have some new addition in-house with a new graphic designer, J-Rich, who has already begun to create some badass art for us. Some team change ups, and of course G.U.T.I. We’re always working on our next new products, so at the moment there are quite a few about to drop. New products including, forks, bars, sprocket, grips, stems, the list goes on. New soft goods for spring and some new cut and sew goods for back to school.
What do you have cooking with the brand these days? I know the new year brought some unexpected changes like many brands out there.Īctually all kinds of stuff.
It’ll be interesting trivia one day, “What else might’ve Subrosa been?” I’m pretty sure it was always going to be Subrosa though. We were discussing a few different types of brands though. I’m not sure if there was any other names. It’s well documented throughout time with governments, churches and religious groups all meeting Subrosa.ĭid you guys ever consider any other names? Do you think any of them would have worked as well as Subrosa? A rose hanging upside down in any building, room, bar, church, cave, strip club, basically any where you can meet with another person, meant that what ever was discussed “under the rose” was kept Subrosa, or completely secret. Well, it means a few different things, but we are about the “Under the rose” meaning. Care to fill us in on the meaning and how you and Ronnie decided on it? Subrosa has been around a few years now, and I’m sure there’s a ton of people who have always wondered what the name means and where it came from.
So let’s kick this off with Ryan Sher and Subrosa. It took a little while to get the ball rolling, but it’s finally going.
#SUB ROSA BMX SERIES#
If you really think about it, the name can sink or float a brand right off the bat, it can start a war with another brand with a similar name, logo or image and a unique name can be the difference between remembering it further down the road or not.Ī while back, I got an email with an idea from a reader who asked if I could start doing a series to find out about the meaning behind a bunch of different brands. The whole image of the brand is based around that name and its meaning. It’s almost weird to think about how much goes into just the name of a brand.
